Flows in Tolt allow you to set up automated commission rules, giving you more control and flexibility over how commissions are applied to different plans, partners, and events.

With flows, you can easily adjust commission rates based on specific criteria, such as setting a 20% commission for the Starter plan and a 15% commission for the Pro plan.

You can even create unique rates for individual partners or groups to meet your program’s specific needs.

Each flow consists of four steps, which guide you through setting up triggers, actions, and conditions to automate your commission structure.

Step 1: General details

To start, enter essential information about the flow:

  • Name your flow: Give your flow a name that clearly describes its purpose.

  • Flow details: You can add a description and, if desired, assign the flow to a specific partner group. By default, the flow will apply to the default group, but selecting a specific group allows for tailored commissions within different partner segments.

Step 2: Set the flow trigger

This step defines when the flow will activate:

  • Choose the trigger event: Select the event that will initiate the flow. Currently, the New Payment option is available, which will trigger the flow every time a referred customer completes a new payment, including subscription renewals.

  • Upcoming trigger option: Soon, you’ll be able to use the New Signup trigger to start the flow when a referred customer signs up as a lead, providing even more flexibility in structuring commissions.

Step 3: Define the flow action

Here, you’ll specify what action the flow will execute when it’s triggered:

  • Choose the action: Options include issuing a commission or switching a partner’s group.

  • Commission setup: Either percentage-based or a fixed rate. You can assign program-wide rates, or set custom commissions for specific partners within the same flow, allowing you to manage commission levels for individual plans, partners, or groups.

Step 4: Add additional conditions (optional)

In the final step, you can further refine when commissions apply by adding conditions. These conditions let you specify requirements based on partner attributes, customer activities, or transaction details, providing detailed control over commission triggers.

Flows empower you to automate and fine-tune your commission structure, making it easy to manage complex scenarios while ensuring each plan and partner group operates with precision. For more information on how to use conditions, check out our Conditions article.
